Year 2 Overview

Welcome to Year 2.

Our class teacher is Mrs Kevan  and our teaching assistant is Miss Poulson.

Year 2 is an important year as we are now top of the infants! This means we are role models for Reception and Year 1. We have lots of responsibilities in our class and always show respect and excellent behaviour in class and around our school.

We have lots of fun topics and activities planned for this year! We will be learning about lots of interesting people from the past and different locations around the world!

Our first topic this half term is called "NESW". We will use maps, digital maps and atlases to identify the United Kingdom, the 4 countries that make up the UK and their capital cities. Throughout the topic we will introduce the children to atlases and digital maps and we will create our own maps of our school grounds. We will also be looking at our local area, Widnes and finding out about how it has changed. We will start to think about human geography and what activities we can do in Widnes! We will be learning about 'Materials' in science and we will be sketching landscapes in art.

We will keep uploading photographs of the exciting activities we have been completing, so please keep checking our page!

In Year 2 we start to learn our 2x, 5x and 10x tables.
